Business of the month #2: Abhaig BnB

Updated: Feb 13, 2022

My Business of the month for February 2022 is.... Abhaig Bnb, based in Earlish, near Uig, and run by the lovely Viv & Steve.

The gorgeous Bothy Suite - Am Bothan Dubh

Abhaig is a gorgeous boutique bnb, with one room in the main house, and a separate Bothy suite. (But not like the bothies you might imagine - it's amazingly luxurious and cosy!) There are private bathroom facilities for each suite.

Not only is a very hearty breakfast provided, but a home-made salad picnic, made using locally sourced ingredients, is an optional extra for you to take as you explore the island.

Stays here are good for solo travellers, couples, or you can reserve both rooms, which would accommodate a group of 3-4 adults. They have also hosted wedding parties.

Viv & Steve are experts in the art of Coorie, and this is evident in all the unique, beautiful touches around the property that will make your stay even more memorable and enjoyable, and make you feel completely relaxed and thoroughly spoiled.

Staying at a bnb instead of an self-catering property means that you get more interaction with locals, and more of an experience. Viv & Steve can recommend the best places to visit, they can tell you the best places to get food, and what things you can do when it rains (which it probably will do at some point). To quote Viv:

"Comfy rooms with luxury touches, great food, and friendly hosting is what we are all about."

What more could you possibly need?

There is more, however!

Abhaig is located on the incredibly beautiful Trotternish peninsula (y'all know this is my favourite peninsula on Skye), meaning wonderful sights are within close reach. The view from the bnb alone is absolutely incredible, so you don't need to venture out to find the peace and tranquility you seek when you visit Skye.

An even bigger bonus is that Abhaig isn't listed on Airbnb, VRBO etc. This means that by booking with them direct, you avoid paying extra - no Airbnb or VRBO fees. You deal directly with the owners. This cuts out a lot of hassle, and let's be honest - who wouldn't want to pay less for an awesome stay!

Best of all, a local business is receiving your support and getting everything they deserve for their excellent hospitality.

You can find them on instagram - @abhaigbnbskye, or visit their website www.abhaigskye.co.uk to book direct, and to see some of their other photos.

And make sure you pop back for March’s “Business of the Month!”
